German players continue to dominate this edition of Triton Montenegro. This time, the champion of the Event #13 US$ 30K Mix PLO/NLH was the prominent German Tobias Schwecht. The player overcame a field of 53 entries to win his first career trophy in the series. As a result, he secured a prize of US$ 465,000.

Thus, the 33-year-old player is starting to gain more and more space in the prestigious High Roller series. Based in Vienna, Schwecht has been playing Triton tournaments since 2023 and revealed that he recently started to dedicate more to the PLO format. According to the champion, he considers this a “fun format”.
Additionally, Schwecht used all his skill in both formats to build a huge lead already on Day 1 of the tournament. In fact, in one of the last hands of the day, the German found a favorable “cooler” in NLH, when his AA held against Tom Vogelsang’s QQ, who was then the second largest stack in the tournament.
However, the Russian Anatoly Zlotnikov managed to take the lead for a period. Even so, the tournament seemed destined for the German, who regained the lead and started the final table with an impressive 205 blinds. This amount was almost double the chips of the second place, the American Cong Pham.

Actions at the final table

Tobias Schwecht’s huge lead was evident throughout the final table. The German eliminated opponents with shorter stacks and constantly pressured Anatoly Zlotnikov and Cong Pham, the only players with healthy stacks. Thus, the legendary Isaac Haxton and Artur Martirosian ended up among the first eliminated in the final.
Next, Ben Tollerene still managed to double up before finishing in fifth place. Additionally, Mike Watson also made an appearance at the final table seeking his third title in this edition of Triton. However, the Canadian fell in fourth place and paved the way for the 3-handed formation between Schwecht, Zlotnikov, and Cong Pham.
Finally, the Russian Anatoly Zlotnikov confirmed the heads-up formation by eliminating Cong Pham and started the final duel with a small chip lead. However, Tobias Schwecht made an important bluff, quickly regained the lead, and shortly after ended the tournament by winning the title.
