The country’s top poker player, Yuri Martins, has also arrived in Las Vegas in search of the sixth bracelet of his career at the WSOP, the traditional World Cup of poker. The series began this Tuesday (26) and is already stirring the felt tables of the world’s gambling capital.

Unlike Carlo Ancelotti’s team, Yuri Martins can still win multiple titles during the series. In an interview with “PokerNews”, the Brazilian star revealed that he intends to compete in various formats throughout the WSOP. “I will play everything, including Hold’em”, said the professional.
The online “theNERDguy” has already confirmed his presence in Event #2 US$ 5,000 No-Limit Hold’em 8-Max. Yuri also explained why he continues to invest heavily in the discipline. “I have a group of friends and a poker team, so I need to stay sharp in Hold’em to teach them and, whenever I have the opportunity, to play these events and the Sunday online ones”, the Brazilian said.
Yuri Martins also highlighted the strength of the Brazilian delegation that landed in Las Vegas for the series. According to him, the country’s players arrive extremely motivated to achieve significant results. “They are very thirsty for success, poker is a great opportunity for them, and this is one of the reasons why we keep growing”, declared the star.

Michael Mizrachi officially opens the WSOP
Event #1 US$ 550 Mini Mystery Millions marked the official start of the WSOP 2026. The organization chose Michael Mizrachi to give the traditional “Shuffle Up and Deal”, a phrase that symbolizes the beginning of the series tournaments. The American experienced a historic season last year by winning the Main Event and the PPC.
The legendary “The Grinder” received the microphone from Jack Effel, WSOP senior vice president. In a relaxed atmosphere, Mizrachi drew laughs from the players present. “I wish you all a summer as good as mine last year. It will be very tough, but still, I wish everyone good luck”, joked the multi-champion.
Finally, Jack Effel also spoke during the series opening ceremony. The executive reinforced the organization’s commitment to improving the participants’ experience each season. “Our mission is to offer better service every year. And, look, we don’t always get everything right, but we try our best. Because no one is perfect, but if you don’t strive for perfection, you will never even come close”, said the executive.
