On this Monday (1st) in Las Vegas (USA), four WSOP (World Series of Poker) events crowned their champions. In the end, the winner of the “knockout” was the Bulgarian Dimitar Danchev, repeating an achievement he had already reached online.

This year’s Heads-Up Championship had 128 players, that is, seven rounds of one-on-one until the champion was decided. As soon as he confirmed the title, Dimitar Danchev earned US$ 800 thousand, in addition to his second bracelet of his career. The first also came in a Heads-Up Championship, but on the virtual tables of GGPoker, in 2022.

In the final duel, Dimitar Danchev had to overcome the Russian Nikita Kuznetsov, who had beaten the American Alex Foxen in the semifinal, the phase that opened the final round. On the other side of the bracket, Danchev overcame the Japanese Ryuta Nakai. In short, the decisive confrontation had a character of study and patience, lasting about three and a half hours.

Kuznetsov took the lead and led until a cooler in which, on the flop, he made a set, and Danchev made a full house. The Russian had T9o while the Bulgarian held 55 on the flop T55, and the action unfolded with bets and calls throughout the turn 6 and the river 2 until Danchev took the pot at showdown and took the lead.

And the Bulgarian needed just one opportunity. From then on, he never lost the lead again, growing more and more until closing the deal. In the final hand, he had Q7o against Q8o, but thanks to a 7 on the flop, he managed to win the pot on the board QJ73Q.

The WSOP Heads-Up Championship rewarded those who reached the round of sixteen onwards, distributing a prize pool of US$ 3,008,000. Among those eliminated in the round of sixteen were Daniel Negreanu and Michael Mizrachi, each taking US$ 60 thousand. Meanwhile, Cary Katz and Thomas Boivin were stopped in the quarterfinals, receiving US$ 150 thousand.
