Event 16 recorded 47 entries, rewarding the top eight with a prize pool of US$ 2,350,000, divided between regular payouts and bounties. João Simão reached second place in this field, and although he did not make any eliminations within the ITM, he earned a respectable US$ 255,000.
The big star of the tournament was Matthias Eibinger. The Austrian won his incredible seventh Triton tournament title, pocketing US$ 1,053,000, with US$ 700,000 coming from the bounty envelopes. In a final table that started with many blinds in play, he grew and dominated, reaching the heads-up with 11 times more chips than João Simão and quickly closing the deal.
