A veteran figure in the national live poker scene, Marcos Sketch conquered his first major title at the KSOP Rio this Thursday (15). At the Sheraton Grand Rio tables, he took down the High Roller Light, a R$ 7,500 buy-in tournament, in a high-level duel against Argentinian Richard Dubini in the heads-up.

A native of Rio de Janeiro, Marcos Sketch managed to beat a field of 43 entries over the two days of the tournament, and as a reward for this impeccable campaign, he pocketed R$ 90,000. Dubini, who was recently announced as an ambassador for the circuit, took R$ 59,000 for second place, while Nelson Teixeira completed the podium.

Shortly after winning a flip that gave him a big pot on Day 1, Marcos Sketch took the lead. He remained among the biggest stacks until the heads-up, when he saw Dubini even the score. However, he didn’t let the “hermano” take the reins and soon closed the deal, confirming the pre-flop favorite status in a TT versus AT.

Furthermore, the KSOP Rio concluded three other competitions during this second day of play. Another relevant title was won by Leandro Vasconcelos in the R$ 1,000 Warm-Up. The traditional opening event of the stage attracted 529 entries, and the champion pocketed R$ 70,000. There was a deal in the heads-up, and thus, runner-up Matheus Eduardo secured R$ 60,000.
