Over the last few weeks, the tables in Dublin, Ireland, hosted the excitement of the traditional Irish Open. The series is one of the oldest in the European poker scene and, this time, broke records, recording representatives from 60 countries. The € 1.150 Main Event was obviously a success, with Romanian Narcis Nedelcu being crowned champion.

Narcis Nedelcu finished in first place in the field of 5.003 entries, the largest mark in the history of the Irish Open in Main Events. For the title, the Romanian pocketed € 336.798, an amount defined by the redistribution after a 5-handed deal. Furthermore, it was the largest slice of the prize pool of € 4.852.910, a value well above the initial guarantee, which was € 2,5 million.

The Final Day, held this Monday (6), took advantage of the Easter Monday holiday, celebrated in Ireland and several other European countries. The round started with ten players, and from the moment five were left, the action stalled. At one point, the stacks balanced out, and the players began discussing a deal.

Right after they signed the deal, the game loosened up, with eliminations happening quickly. Narcis Nedelcu even eliminated two at once with QQ versus Gayko’s A6o and McAleenan’s KTs in a triple all-in where the board showed 74224. The heads-up lasted no more than four hands, as the Romanian started with an advantage against Donnini and quickly settled the score with A2 against K6.
Among the 60 countries represented at this year’s Irish Open, Brazil was present. In the Main Event, the green and yellow flag reached the penultimate round, with Victor Ponciano securing the best campaign. He finished in 31º place, taking € 13.780. Fábio Sanchez (63º) and Marcelo Reis (69º) fell on the same day, receiving € 9.070 each.
