In an interview with “Poker.org”, he talked about his playing style in the series, comparing it to other participants who rely on techniques through so-called “solvers.”
In addition to this, Deeb stated that he is not a user of this form of study. “Those who know me know that I have never used a solver”, said the player, stating that he incorporated some strategies by talking with other participants. “I know ICM. I’m also rich enough not to care about ICM sometimes”.
Still in the interview, he said he feels at his peak and playing very well. “As much as the GTO guys and solvers try to influence my playing style and the way I play WSOP events, the GTO guys are not the best investment for a reason”, he declared.

The influences of Shaun Deeb

According to The Hendon Mob, Shaun Deeb has $17,761,710 in live circuit earnings. His profile on the WSOP website shows that he has cashed 244 times in the series. Given such a positive record, the American player spoke in the interview with “Poker.org” about his inspirations.
In this context, the name Chris Moneymaker, the 2003 Main Event champion, was one of the great influences. “I used to watch him when I was 16, while playing $20 tournaments at home”, said Deeb, mentioning other names like Greg Raymer, Phil Hellmuth, and Daniel Negreanu. “Nowadays, I have these guys’ phone numbers”, he added.
Finally, the player also commented that in 2026 he will turn 40 and may become eligible for the Poker Hall of Fame. “It’s simply surreal to be at the level I am in my career and to know that I was one of the 10 million people watching poker and dreaming of being on that stage”, he concluded.
