It’s not just Neymar who shows passion for poker. His friends, popularly known as “parças”, also make a constant presence in the tournaments. Gil Cebola is one of the main examples. So much so that he advanced to Day 2 of the BSOP Championship, a tournament with a R$ 25,000 buy-in that recorded 240 entries.

Thus, the friendship between Neymar and Gil Cebola began in their adolescence. The two attended the same evangelical church in São Vicente, on the coast of São Paulo. After that, the “parça” took on the role of the star’s official photographer and accompanied him in all the countries where the number 10 of Santos lived.
In this way, the partnership also made an appearance at the BSOP Winter. However, Gil Cebola suffered a complicated bluff from his namesake Carlos Lima during Day 2 of the BSOP Championship. The hand happened at the televised table and ended the level before the break. At that moment, 27 players remained in the competition.
Additionally, the action started at blinds 6,000/12,000, with big blind ante. Gil Cebola received A♠A♣ in the hijack and made a mini-raise. Carlos Lima defended the big blind with 10♥7♥. The flop brought 3♦8♥6♣. Since he had an open straight draw, Lima took the initiative and bet 32,000 chips. Then, Gil Cebola opted to call.

Bold move ends in bluff on the turn

However, the decisive moment came on the turn. The K♣ appeared, and Carlos Lima checked. Gil Cebola responded with a bet of 55,000 chips. Next, the opponent made a check-raise to 200,000, keeping 418,000 chips behind. Since he had 494,000 chips after the bet, Neymar’s friend chose to fold the hand.
However, Carlos Lima not only took the pot. Shortly after, he revealed the bluff to the entire table. The player has accumulated almost US$ 500 thousand in career winnings and has reached final tables in the BSOP and other international tournaments. Additionally, he advanced to Day 3 with 960,000 chips, while Gil Cebola also secured qualification, with 290,000 chips.
Finally, Neymar’s “parça” posted a video on social media to thank the support of friends. “Today was it, guys. Some right decisions, others wrong, it’s part of it. We’re short, but we’re on Day 3. Let’s go. One chip and one chair. A double up, two is a dream, but one is already good. Thanks to those who cheered.”
