Daniel Marquesin wins Event 24 of the WSOP Online in a new Brazilian HU

Brazil’s dominance in the current WSOP Online at GGPoker is going beyond titles. For the third time, the country placed both players in the decisive heads-up of the bracelet-winning competition. This Wednesday (16), it was Daniel Marquesin’s turn to win the jewel, the first of his career and the seventh for the green and yellow nation in this series.

Daniel Marquesin won the Event 24 (US$ 1,000 Mid-Stakes NLH Championship), held over two days and which recorded 1,866 entries, generating a prize pool of US$ 1,772,700. For the title, besides the bracelet, the player earned US$ 205,381, beating compatriot Firas Massouh in the heads-up. Massouh, therefore, took home US$ 161,036.

In short, the podium was 100% South American. This is because, besides Marquesin and Massouh, Argentine Bruno Alava completed the top 3, taking US$ 126,265 in third place. Brazil also had another representative at the FT, Guilherme Beavis, who finished ninth for US$ 23,340.

Daniel Marquesin’s campaign at the final table was dominant. Right at the start, he eliminated Beavis and took the reins. Meanwhile, the one who would become his heads-up opponent had to take a path of recovery. With 8 left, Massouh was the short stack, with less than 10 bbs, but managed a double-up and more important pots to come back.

From then on, Marquesin and Massouh shared the spotlight by making eliminations. However, Marquesin started the heads-up ahead and sealed the end of the dispute thanks to the river, as with KJo, he faced 99 in an attempt by Massouh to double up, but formed the winning pair on the 886AJ board.

Thus, Brazil now reaches seven bracelets in the current WSOP Online. The last one had come just one day before, with Roberto Firmino, who also dominated the final table and won a huge return in the COLOSSUS. Besides the titles, the country has also recorded six runner-ups and five bronze medals, comfortably leading the “medal table” of the GGPoker series.
