Jamie Schaevel’s campaign in the WSOP 2026 Main Event ended with seventh place and a prize of US$ 1.5 million. Still, the American stated that the financial result was secondary. Through a letter published on X (formerly known as Twitter), he highlighted that the affection received during the tournament meant much more than the final placement.

Thus, Schaevel revealed that he is still trying to find words to describe everything he experienced in Las Vegas. According to him, the journey in the biggest poker tournament in the world provided a unique experience. For this reason, the professional made a point of thanking his wife, father, friends, and family members.
In this way, the player also shared stories that moved him during the competition. Friends undertook long trips to watch the matches. Meanwhile, other people followed the broadcasts between medical appointments and even during a children’s birthday party.
Additionally, for the American, this feeling was worth more than any amount of money. “The money is incredible and seems completely worthless compared to the feeling of being loved, of knowing that so many people care and respect me”, wrote Schaevel, who also added: “I have already won, regardless of finishing first or seventh”.

Schaevel praises opponents and recalls inspiration from Kobe Bryant
However, besides thanking the fans, Jamie Schaevel made a point of praising the other eight members of the final table. According to him, they all represented poker and the sports community very well. The American also congratulated Lauri Saaskilahti and Lucas Jumalon, who decided the title, and stated that both deserved to compete for the WSOP bracelet.
However, the professional also reserved a special thanks for Chris Brewer. According to Schaevel, the professional influenced his game development. He explained that Brewer was always available to help him and stated that hardly anyone shows so much knowledge and dedication to competitive poker.
Finally, Schaevel recalled a dream he had since adolescence. He always imagined playing the WSOP final table wearing a Kobe Bryant shirt. Remembering messages from friends saying he would have made the former NBA star proud, the American admitted he was moved.
