Matthias Eibinger wins Onyx HR Series 50K Grand Slam and pockets seven figures

Austrian Matthias Eibinger will once again leave the Merit Casino in Cyprus with a giant prize in his pocket. After his second championship at Triton Cyprus 2022, a series played at the venue, he once again cashed in heavily on the Mediterranean island, winning the US$ 50,500 NLH Grand Slam of the Onyx High Roller Series.

The Grand Slam registered a field of 95 entries, and Matthias Eibinger pocketed no less than US$ 1,250,000 for the title. This is a significant pay jump compared to the prize of US$ 870,000 awarded to the runner-up, Frenchman Johan Guilbert. Joseph Oren, from the United States, completed the podium.

Check out the final standings of the 50K Grand Slam:

  1. Matthias Eibinger (Austria) – US$ 1,250,000
  2. Johan Guilbert (France) – US$ 870,000
  3. Joseph Oren (USA) – US$ 575,000
  4. Tom Vogelsang (Netherlands) – US$ 430,000
  5. Sergio Fernández (Spain) – US$ 340,000
  6. Igor Yaroshevskyy (Ukraine) – US$ 265,000
  7. Quan Zhou (China) – US$ 210,000
  8. Thomas Mühlöcker (Austria) – US$ 175,000
  9. Gha Iakobishvili (Russia) – US$ 145,000

Although it is a gigantic prize, this title for Matthias Eibinger represents more of a relief than a big score. This is because, throughout this Onyx High Roller Series, he had participated in the most expensive tournaments. However, he had not achieved success. Therefore, he managed to “save the series” with this victory.

In an interview with the North American portal “PokerNews,” the Austrian revealed that he made four attempts at the High Roller Championship, with a buy-in of US$ 100,000, won by Jean-Robert Bellande. However, he did not cash. And in this same Grand Slam where he became champion, he only managed to get going on his third bullet.

However, Matthias Eibinger’s career history leaves no doubt: he is a High Roller ace. The mere fact that this new achievement represents only the fifth largest score of his live career (according to Hendon Mob) gives an idea that the Austrian knows how to reach big figures. He now has over US$ 27 million, with the title of the ME of Triton Monte Carlo 2023 topping his victories (US$ 3.4 million).
