When Mike Watson lifted the champion trophy of the Event #11 US$ 50K NLH Turbo Bounty Quattro, the feeling was déjà vu. This is because, just four days earlier, the Canadian had already won another turbo tournament at the Triton Poker Series in Montenegro. This was his seventh title in the history of the series and the second in this stage.

Thus, Watson isolated himself in second place among the greatest Triton champions, behind only the record holder Jason Koon. The player overcame a field of 32 entries and pocketed a total prize of US$ 621,000, with US$ 240,000 coming from the bounties collected throughout the tournament.

However, the Canadian did not have an easy life in the tournament. He started the final table with the third largest stack, behind Anatoly Zlotnikov and Linus Loeliger. The latter ended up being the future champion’s opponent in the heads-up. The podium also included the American Alex Foxen, eliminated in third place.

About the title, the champion limited himself to saying: “It’s amazing”. He was the first player in this stage to secure two champion trophies. “I was lucky, I think, in the end. In turbo tournaments, all-ins always happen, and if you win the hands, that’s an important part of the game”, added the modest champion.

Among all players, the one with the most titles in Triton is Jason Koon. The American is the absolute record holder of the series, with 12 trophies. In fact, he was present at this final table, being eliminated in fourth place for a prize of US$ 128,000. However, he now sees Mike Watson take sole possession of second place in the historical ranking, with seven wins.

In addition to this, the champion maintained a modest tone when talking about the milestone reached. “I don’t think Jason will feel my presence on his tail, at least for now. But being alone in second place is already amazing. So, I’m very happy to have this on my resume now”, said Watson as he celebrated another achievement.

Finally, even with two titles won in the series, the Canadian assured that he does not intend to slow down during the stage. “I’m here to play poker, it’s a work trip. I’ll be away from my family for a few weeks, so I’m here to play, try to make some money”, concluded the player in a very professional manner.Top of the form
