Yuri Martins laments WSOP rule and reveals sponsor ban in tournaments

One of Brazil’s main hopes at the WSOP is Yuri Martins. Owner of five bracelets in the series, the professional based in the United States competes at a high level in practically all the disciplines present in the Las Vegas schedule. However, the Brazilian star used social media to express dissatisfaction with one of the new rules for the 2026 edition.

Thus, Yuri revealed that he brought several sweatshirts from Coin Poker, a platform of which he is an ambassador. However, he was not allowed to wear the pieces during the WSOP tournaments without covering the company’s logo. The organization did not approve the request to display the brand at the series’ tables.

Additionally, the situation faced by the Brazilian reinforces a debate that had already arisen before the start of the WSOP. British player Patrick Leonard also criticized the organization’s decision after receiving a negative response to use the Coin Poker brand in the tournaments. On that occasion, he even questioned his participation in the series.

Thus, the WSOP implemented an important change in its regulations for 2026. Now, any player who wishes to display sponsor brands during events must submit a formal request by email. Furthermore, the request must include a series of information required by the organization and await approval before the competition begins.

The measure had direct impacts on several professionals. While some companies received authorization normally, others were blocked by the organization. As a result, several players had to adapt their clothing to compete in the series.

Coin Poker is among the unapproved brands

However, not all sponsors faced problems. Several professionals continue to use brands from ACR Poker during tournaments. One of the best-known examples is Alex Foxen, who recently signed a contract with the platform. Additionally, Yuri Martins himself continues to display other approved sponsors, such as JUMP and RegLife.

On the other hand, Coin Poker is among the brands banned by the organization. A possible explanation is related to the fact that the platform does not yet operate fully regulated in the United States. Although the WSOP has not officially disclosed the reason for the refusal, this hypothesis gained traction among players and industry observers.

Furthermore, another brand that did not receive authorization was ClubWPT Gold. According to information circulating in the community, the decision may be related to an alleged case of “collusion” involving the platform during last year’s edition.

Finally, the WSOP retains the right to set its own rules as it is a private company. Given this scenario, it is up to the players to decide whether to accept the conditions imposed by the organization. Yuri Martins chose to continue competing normally in the series, while Patrick Leonard also reversed his decision and attended in Las Vegas.
