On this Thursday (30), Matheus Scandiuze won the Mini Championship of BSOP Winter and turned the buy-in of R$ 6,000 into a prize of R$ 340,000. To claim the title, the São Paulo player overcame a field of 344 entries, which generated a total prize pool of R$ 1,658,700.

Thus, Matheus Scandiuze celebrated the achievement greatly. This was his first title in the history of BSOP, after coming close several times. The player already had two runner-up trophies in the series, one in the Big Stack PKO of BSOP Winter 2025 and another in the Big Pot Turbo KO of BSOP Millions 2024.
However, the long-awaited champion’s shout was missing. And it came in an unforgettable way, after overcoming a final table full of great players. To reach the top of the podium, Matheus Scandiuze eliminated names like Saymon Dias and the Colombian Sebastián Fonseca. In the heads-up, he defeated Bernardo Soares.
In this way, in an interview with “Mundo Poker,” the player revealed that he entered determined to win the unprecedented title. “I have two trophies, I had several near misses in the High Rollers. It was about continuing to play, without folding because of the trophy, doing what I thought I had to do”, said the champion, who dedicated the victory to his girlfriend.

Saved by the deck in a decisive play

With K♣Q♣, he made a 3-bet all-in, and Bernardo Soares called with A♦K♦. Right on the flop, a Q appeared, but the turn brought an A. However, fate still reserved a different outcome, and the river revealed another Q, ensuring Scandiuze’s survival.
Moreover, Bernardo Soares managed to recover and reached the heads-up with an advantage. The decisive duel remained balanced for a long time, until Matheus Scandiuze took the chip lead. The decision ended when both players saw the flop 7♥6♣2♣.
Finally, both went all-in, and Bernardo Soares showed K♠7♦, taking the lead in the hand with top pair. However, Matheus Scandiuze had many chances to win by revealing 8♣5♣, with two straight draws and a flush draw. Right on the turn, a 4♥ completed the São Paulo star’s straight, who could finally celebrate the long-awaited title.
