Michael “Texas Mike” Moncek apologized after a controversial episode on High Stakes Poker. The player lost a record pot of US$ 4.26 million and ended up arguing with Eric Wasserson right after the hand. On that occasion, Moncek attempted a bluff with only T high and ended up getting called.
Thus, he acknowledged that he overreacted. The professional usually does not attack opponents after big losses. Therefore, he decided to apologize even without receiving many criticisms from fans on social media.
Additionally, the hand ended with a nine-high flush for Wasserson. Before that, however, Texas Mike tried to turn his T-high into a big bluff. He put the opponent all-in on the river, after betting on the flop and the turn.
However, Wasserson faced a tough decision. He had 9♦7♦ and completed the flush on the river. Thus, he needed to think for about two minutes before calling Moncek’s million-dollar bet.

Eric Wasserson accepts Texas Mike’s apology
Thus, right after the call, Texas Mike criticized the opponent’s delay. “Maybe the biggest nit-roll of all time”, said Moncek. Then, Wasserson explained that he had never played a pot that big before. “I immediately said I had a huge hand. I’ve never played such a big pot before”, he replied.
However, the discussion continued for a few minutes. Moncek also complained about Wasserson’s behavior at the tables. The American pointed out that the opponent had about US$ 5 million in chips and asked for more action during the match.
Finally, Texas Mike backtracked and posted an apology on X. Wasserson quickly accepted the retraction. “You’re my friend, I wasn’t offended. It was a completely normal reaction. You have nothing to apologize for”, said the player who finished the four cash game sessions with US$ 3.2 million in profit.
