One of the most beloved names in the Brazilian poker community will not be in Las Vegas this North American summer. Present at the WSOP since 2008, Felipe Mojave announced on social media that he will be absent from the series this year. The player did not reveal the exact reason for his absence, but stated that other priorities are occupying his focus at the moment.

Therefore, Mojave posted a photo of his first participation in the WSOP and moved fans with the caption. The Brazilian wrote: “My first year at WSOP Las Vegas. Since then I have not missed any edition, but this year will be different. Family and values always come first. All the best to you. Peace and love.”

Although Mojave represents a true legend of national poker, the player is still seeking his first career bracelet. Even so, he has already accumulated numerous deep runs in the series. Felipe Mojave can be considered one of the pioneers of poker in Brazil. Before living exclusively from cards, he worked at an international bank and gave up stability to pursue professional poker. Over two decades of career, the Brazilian has accumulated US$ 4,652,766 in live circuit earnings, according to data from “The Hendon Mob.”

Thus, these numbers place Mojave among the ten highest-earning players in the history of Brazilian poker. Furthermore, two of the biggest cashes in his career came precisely from runner-up finishes at the WSOP, a result that shows how close the bracelet has been to the Brazilian’s hands.

Finally, second place in Event #12 US$ 1,000 NLH Double Stack at the 2021 WSOP Online earned Mojave US$ 476,612. Two years later, he again reached another historic final table at the WSOP in Las Vegas.
