However, this was not the first time the player secured the beautiful trident-shaped trophy. In fact, this was his sixth title in the series in 3 years. Watson now equals Punnat Punsri and Matthias Eibinger in number of wins. “Whenever you lift a Triton trophy, it is definitely significant”, said Watson.
In addition to the six titles, the trio reaches an important place in the series. They are in second place in number of wins, behind only the American Jason Koon, owner of 12 Triton trophies. “Now I’m back in second place in number of Triton trophies won, so it’s really cool”, he commented.
However, even accustomed to the wins, Watson’s most recent title was greatly celebrated. “It’s fun to have people cheering in the stands. It makes everything a little more exciting”, said the Canadian, making it clear that the noise does not distract him. “It’s at these times that I’m really focused”, he added.

How was the tournament?
At the formation of the final table, Watson had the second largest chip stack. He was behind only the Moroccan Mehdi Chaouí. However, six of the nine finalists had less than 14 big blinds.
