Over the past few days, high-stakes players gathered at Merit Casino in Cyprus to compete in the Onyx HR Series. After holding a series of Hold’em tournaments, the festival concluded with Omaha events. Spain’s Cesar Garcia and the Netherlands’ Nino Pansier took home the last two titles.

Cesar Garcia became the champion of the PLO Grand Slam, with a buy-in of US$50,000. After starting the final table with a significant chip advantage, the WSOP bracelet winner skillfully applied pressure to secure the victory, defeating Wales’ Pugh-Jones in heads-up play and pocketing US$1.2 million.

Days later, this Friday (13th), the Onyx HR Series closed its schedule with a bang by crowning the champion of the PLO Main Event, with a US$25,000 buy-in. Nino Pansier, who had already placed fifth at the PLO Grand Slam final table, completed the job this time, becoming champion and earning US$1,125,000.

With this result alone, Pansier has practically matched the sum of all his other career live poker winnings. According to Hendon Mob, the Dutchman had earned US$1.3 million in payouts up to the moment of his title. In heads-up play, he defeated Germany’s Justin Steinbrenner, in a final table that also featured players of the caliber of Artur Martirosian and Lautaro Guerra.
