Last Monday (27), the BSOP Winter crowned the Grand High Roller champion. The tournament with a buy-in of R$ 15,000 registered 166 entries and ended with Pedro Cavalieri at the top of the podium. The Rio de Janeiro native won the title, took home R$ 500,000, and also received an exclusive card-protector from the series.

Thus, Pedro Cavalieri also earned important points in the BSOP High Roller ranking. However, he is not expected to continue competing. In an interview with BSOP 360, the player revealed that he does not intend to participate in the next stage. He injured his knee during a soccer match and is expected to undergo surgery next month.
However, the victory had a special meaning for the champion. “Winning live is different. My son here, my wife. Oh amazing, a lot of friends too. I love BSOP. I like being here, really cool”, said the professional, who overcame the French Julien Pieffet in the heads-up. The European secured second place and received R$ 325,000.
Meanwhile, the podium also included Rodrigo Castro Solha, who finished in third place and took home R$ 215,000. In addition, other well-known names from the national scene were present in the final decision. Thales Morelli was the first eliminated at the final table, ending his participation in ninth place and earning R$ 51,950.

Fast final table and comeback in the heads-up
However, Pedro Cavalieri did not find an easy path to the title. The champion explained that the final table ended quickly because the players spent a lot of time competing the day before. “The blinds went up and I was lucky to win the all-ins I needed”, he said. Then, he also revealed the strategy used in the decisive heads-up against Julien Pieffet.
Moreover, the champion faced difficulties at the start of the final duel and saw his opponent open a chip lead. “I tried to play a bit more small ball, play more post-flop, but you also need luck, there’s no heads-up if you don’t make plays”, explained Pedro Cavalieri. Still, the Rio de Janeiro native regained control of the match, took the chip lead, and confirmed the victory.
Finally, the decisive hand happened when Julien Pieffet put the last seven blinds in the center of the table with Q♣8♦ and received a call from Pedro Cavalieri, who held 6♣5♦. The flop brought 2♣3♣9♥, maintaining the Frenchman’s advantage. Next, the turn revealed a 9♠, but the 4♦ on the river completed the Rio de Janeiro native’s straight, securing the title and celebrating the great achievement.
