With a R$ 25k buy-in, the mid-year BSOP Invitational registered a field of 192 entries, a record for editions of this tournament at BSOP Winter, distributing a total of R$ 4,143,840 in prizes. Finally, this Wednesday (22), Pedro Ferrer overcame all opponents after two days of competition and pocketed no less than R$ 1 million.
Living up to the tournament’s dynamic, a businessman who plays poker recreationally faced a mind sport professional in the heads-up. Matheus Machado ended up in second place, taking R$ 630k. Although the fields mixed on the Final Day, a representative from each side was in the decisive confrontation, and it was better for the businessman from São Lourenço (MG), who won his biggest prize on the circuit.

Star-studded Field
The BSOP Invitational prize pool awarded the top 27 finishers, and among them, big names from the scene. Among the awarded professionals were Patrick Ulysséa (22nd, R$ 51,700) and Jefferson Dosso (27th, R$ 45,000), in addition to Machado and Alisson Piekazewicz, who completed the podium. As for the businessmen, there were Lucas Scafini (14th, R$ 58,600) and Cristian Aquino (25th, R$ 45,000), among others.
With a significant advantage in the heads-up, Pedro Ferrer called Machado’s all-in with T9s, who had JJ. The pocket pair, so hated by some, proved its reputation and did not hold the professional’s advantage. This is because, after the Q86 rainbow flop, a 7 on the turn formed a straight for the player from Minas Gerais, and the A on the river put an end to the dispute.
