Brazil’s journey in the Main Event of EPT Barcelona has ended. Bárbara Akemi was the last representative of the country in the tournament. She reached Day 6 of the € 5,300 event with the seventh largest stack among the 13 survivors. However, a play against the Italian Manuel Ferrari resulted in the Brazilian’s elimination.

Thus, Akemi finished the competition in 10th place, on the bubble of the final table. The result also marked the biggest prize of her career in live tournaments. The prize of € 97,700 more than doubles the US$ 86,613 recorded on the player’s profile on The Hendon Mob. Furthermore, this was the best result by a Brazilian woman in an EPT Main Event.
However, breaking records is not new in Bárbara Akemi‘s career. Born in Londrina, she started playing online poker during the pandemic. In a short career, she has already won a WSOP Online bracelet. Additionally, she became the first Brazilian woman to win a Sunday Million.
In addition, Brazil arrived with five representatives on Day 5 of the Main Event, which recorded 1,823 entries. Gabriel Tavares finished 26th and took home € 34,850, while Fabrício Nociollini (19th) and Vinicios Gonçalves (18th) received € 47,150. Meanwhile, Eduardo Kalil said goodbye in 16th and secured € 56,600.

How was the elimination?
However, Bárbara Akemi‘s journey was indeed the best among the Brazilians. The fall happened when she had about 20 big blinds. The Brazilian entered with a limp-call after a raise to 375,000 in the 75,000/150,000 blinds. She held Q♦9♠, while the aggressor was the then clear chip leader of the tournament, Manuel Ferrari, who had K♠K♥.
However, the flop did not help Brazil. The board 6♥3♠9♦ gave top pair to Akemi, who made a check-raise to 775,000 chips. The Italian just called, and the turn brought a J♥. With a large part of the stack already in the center of the table, Akemi announced all-in and received the call. Finally, the river brought a T♦ and did not save the Brazilian.
Finally, the final table was formed with a strong lead by Manuel Ferrari. The Italian had more than 100 big blinds after the hand against Bárbara Akemi. Additionally, the Spanish fans will be rooting for the local representatives José Criado and Gerard Garbo. The Main Event champion will be known on Saturday (29) and will take home € 1,370,050.
