On this Monday (7), Brazil reached its fourth bracelet in the current edition of the WSOP Online. At the virtual tables of GGPoker, professional Bruno Ikeda won poker’s most coveted jewel, taking down Event 16 (US$ 500 Deepstack NLH Championship) in an all green and yellow heads-up.

Event 16 of the WSOP Online was held over two days and totaled 3,971 entries, distributing US$ 1,886,225 in prizes. By overcoming all opponents with his nickname “LucasYII”, Bruno Ikeda pocketed US$ 194,703, in addition to the bracelet.
The last opponent in Ikeda’s path was compatriot Lucas Teixeira “Fino y Elegante”. For second place, the Brazilian took home US$ 152,663, while the German Yannick Schneider completed the podium, leaving with US$ 119,700. The FT also featured players like Argentine Lucas Pochat and Bulgarian Boris Angelov.

This first career bracelet has a different taste for Bruno Ikeda. That is because, also in a WSOP Online, he finished one position away from the title in a US$ 840 6-Handed Bounty event. In the 2022 edition, he was defeated in the heads-up by Joni Jouhkimainen, and had to wait to reach the golden bracelet.

And this victory almost didn’t come. That is because, throughout the FT of Event 16, Ikeda was down to just 3 big blinds. This happened already at 3-handed, but with consecutive doubles over then chip leader Teixeira, he managed to recover, leaving Schneider as the short stack.
It was Ikeda who eliminated Schneider and started the heads-up with more chips than Teixeira. The green and yellow duel didn’t last long, as Ikeda managed to maintain his positive streak. Finally, he closed the deal by calling an opponent’s shove holding AKs. Teixeira had KTo, and the board 954J2 did not change the pre-flop scenario.
