Thus, the confrontation took place on Day 4 of the CA$ 5,000 Main Event, held at Playground in Canada. The tournament recorded 2,844 entries and reached a prize pool of CA$ 13,042,800, approximately US$ 9.46 million. The champion will take home CA$ 1,500,000.
In this way, Daniel Negreanu started the day with only 14 big blinds but managed to increase his stack in the first hours. When 99 players remained, the Canadian found an opportunity to win even more chips. With blinds at 12,500/25,000, he opened to 50,000 from the hijack with 10♦10♣, while Kornuth found A♣K♥ in the cutoff and raised to 140,000.
