The WSOP Main Event recorded a rather unusual situation during Day 4 of the competition. Xuan Liu, who was eliminated in 634th place for US$ 27,500, was involved in a hand marked by a dealer error. The incident interrupted the action and required immediate intervention from the organization.

Furthermore, the play happened against the American Matthew Zuk, at blinds 5,000/10,000. The board showed K♣8♠4♠5♣ up to the turn, when Zuk checked from the big blind. However, before Liu’s decision, the dealer mistakenly revealed the river 2♣, causing confusion at the table.
Then, the floor reviewed the situation and kept the action on the turn. The prematurely revealed card was returned to the deck, and a new river would be dealt at the end of the hand. After that, Xuan Liu bet 70,000 chips into a pot of approximately 90,000, and Matthew Zuk responded with an all-in of 251,000 chips. The Canadian called immediately.
Finally, the showdown confirmed that the confusion would not change the outcome of the hand. Xuan Liu revealed 5♣5♦ for a set, while Matthew Zuk showed K♠9♦. The new river was 2♠, but the card did not alter the result of the contest.

Set secured a huge pot for Xuan Liu
After the new river was determined, Xuan Liu confirmed the win in the hand and took one of the biggest pots of her tournament career. With this, the Canadian surpassed the mark of 1,000,000 chips and gained momentum in the race for the title.
However, the great moment was not enough to guarantee an even longer run. Despite the stack recovery, Xuan Liu was eliminated during Day 4 of the WSOP Main Event.
Still, the play quickly gained prominence among players and spectators. After all, the dealer’s error forced the organization to correctly apply the tournament rules, while the showdown showed that Xuan Liu already had the best hand even before the river card was replaced.
