The poker community in the United States received sad news last Saturday (25). Mark Davis died at 46 years old, ending a distinguished career at the tables. The professional accumulated more than US$ 2.3 million in live tournament winnings during his career.

Thus, Mark Davis built much of his history at the Choctaw casinos in Oklahoma and Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina. Over the years, he earned respect among professional and recreational players for his results and for his constant presence in the region’s main circuits.
Additionally, the biggest titles of his career came in 2022. That year, Davis won the WSOP Circuit Cherokee Main Event, overcoming a field of 1,402 entries and pocketing US$ 334,678. Furthermore, he also won the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown, a result that earned him the biggest prize of his career, US$ 1,000,000.
Thus, in the heads-up of the WPT tournament, Mark Davis prevented Darren Elias from winning the historic fifth title of the series. Before the final, he sought guidance from professional Chance Kornuth, who helped him prepare for the final table.

Mark Davis remained active on the poker circuit
However, even in his last days alive, Mark Davis remained active. His most recent result occurred just over a week ago, when he finished in 68th place in the US$ 400 No-Limit Hold’em Mini Main Event of the Gulf Coast Poker Mid-South Mini-Series in Tunica, Mississippi.
However, his friend and fellow player Michael Graydon paid tribute on social media. The two grew up playing poker together and shared many moments at the tables. In the post, he stated that “he was fierce at the tables, but had a huge heart and was there when people needed him”.
Finally, PokerNews reported that Mark Davis suffered a stroke and was airlifted to a hospital. There, he suffered additional strokes and did not survive. Thus, poker loses a victorious player and a figure highly respected by the community.
