Brazilian Felipe Baraky finished his campaign on Thursday (10) in the CA$ 5,000 Main Event of the WSOP Super Circuit Canada, in Montréal. Upon reaching the final table, the player won the biggest prize of his career, although his campaign was interrupted when he ran into AA in an attempt to double up.

In short, Felipe Baraky finished in sixth place in the field of 2,844 entries, and for his performance, pocketed CA$ 400,000. The prize is equivalent to about US$ 288,000, or R$ 1.46 million, marking the big hit of the Brazilian’s career in live poker so far.
Felipe Baraky had advanced to the FT with the fourth largest stack, and while the first three eliminations happened, he maintained his stack. However, at 6-handed, he went on a negative streak of two hands. The first, against Chance Kornuth, went to showdown, and the Brazilian had KJo against the American’s K7o, losing the pot thanks to the board K97AQ.

With 22 bbs behind, Baraky made a fake shove from the button with KJs, and Jonathan Bussieres, with AA in the big blind, raised to put the Brazilian all in. The call came, and the flop AJ4 improved the opponent’s situation. However, two cards were hearts, the same suit as the Brazilian’s cards. But the flush draw did not complete on the turn 6 of clubs and river 8 of diamonds, ending the green and yellow campaign.
Hours later, Canadian Mayukh Chakraborty was crowned champion. The player, who had started the final as chip leader, pocketed an incredible CA$ 1.5 million for the title, in addition to the WSOP Circuit ring. In the heads-up, he defeated compatriot Benjamin Veenstra, while Brit Jack Salter completed the podium.
